I’m totally unprepared for this. I don’t have a cake, pancit or spaghetti that would have signified this blog’s long life, or puto and kalamay to signify the stickiness and fidelity in our relationship as a blogger and reader. However, I may have a few uncooked surprises for you later in this post.
First, the milestones
For the one year that this blog has been on the web, here are the following things we have achieved:
- Over the year, this blog has received a total of 149,668 unique visits and 238,855 pageviews.
- I have written a total of 351 posts which received a total of 628 approved comments.
- Today, we have 58 blog subscribers, 42 of which are email subscribers.
- This blog has made $349.73 of income from GetPaidFrom.Us alone.
You have helped me buy a new HP Mini Note to aid me in pursuing my blogging career, together with a prepaid Smart Bro kit. You’ve made me feel excited whenever my mailbox says there’s a new comment. You’ve made me feel satisfied whenever this blog makes a new traffic and income milestones. Thank you very much.
Second, the future goals
For the next 365 days, I’m reaching for the following goals:
- Receive 2000+ pageviews a day, that’s 730,000 pageviews over the year.
- Reach 100+ subscribers. (You can help me buy subscribing now.)
- Earn $100+ income per month, that’s $1,200 a year. This would include income from other sources like affiliate commissions.
- Write at least 365 posts and receive 1,500 comments. Double the comments means more reader engagement. (Comment now.)
Last, a few surprises
As I’ve said, I’m totally unprepared for this. But in the spirit of celebration, I would like to make a few announcements:
I have learned from the top content posts I make every month that there is a recurring theme that usually gets the most pageviews. That is the watch TV online theme. So, I would like to announce the soft-launching of Watch Pinoy Online. No, I won’t be uploading videos, instead I will be providing links on where you can watch Philippine TV shows online just like what I’ve been doing here on Idiot Box.
If you’ve found my posts on where to watch TV online, I’m sure you’ll find this new blog more helpful as I will be providing you with more links to choose from.
As of the moment, the blog is still under construction and only has a few TV shows added. This is the best opportunity for you to tell me what TV shows you want added. And if you have a blog which offers a place where we can watch Pinoy TV shows online, you are free to promote your blog there. In both cases, just tell me through the comments, through the contact form in this blog and email address of WPO.
2. Contests!
I’ve been juggling ideas of contests in my head. Of course, the contests will have rewards, usually money. This is the way I can give back to you for reading blog and making this blog a success.
I’m still thinking of what contest I can come up with and how much the reward will be. You may share your suggestions through the comments. Of course, I would prefer you subscribe by email to join the contests. Subscribe now!
As I’ve said, these are half-cooked surprises. I apologize for that. But as soon as these surprises are ready, I’ll let you know. Again, subscribe to Idiot Box today if you haven’t done so to receive free updates.
Thanks to you for making this Idiot Box year a success!

Wow, 350 usd in one year in getpaidfromus? A dollar for every post. Well, every little thing helps so I say that’s good.
When I started out I aimed to get earnings from it for a laptop, too. Bet I got sidetracked. Enjoyed blogging too much. Even forgot to put it back on after I made the transfer from Blogger.
Well congrats on your first year. I was late for the party!
I didn’t realize I was earning a dollar a post until you pointed it out. My goal was to make more than my previous months.
I have been wondering how will you monetize your WritingToExhale blog. (Or will you ever be monetizing it?) I don’t think the Thesis theme banner isn’t making much.
I’m thinking you can have a tutorial or ebook on “figurative writing” or something of that sort. But it’s ok if you want to keep your blog non-monetized. I just thought you can leverage the popularity and the traffic for something your readers would truly love. It’s just me. Hehe
Thanks!
Not much? I haven’t earned a commission yet. The thing to do is to make a post and kind of help it along in order to make a sale. Haven’t got around to writing one yet. It’s just sitting there.
Even two sales in a month will be fine considering it will give 33% per transaction. Yeah, I still lack focus. Got to get my act together. Time to not only have fun, but earn as well at the same time.
@jan geronimo
A lot of bloggers have said this if you want to make money from your blog, but Darren Rowse has recently posted about this:

To keep you focus, you have to treat your blog as a business too and not just a form of expression if you really want to make money using it.
