MTRCB LogoLawmakers, led by Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casiño wants the MTRCB to be abolished and replaced with MTCB, for Movie and Television Classification Board. They want “Review” out of board’s function.

So they are filing House Bill 6425 which seeks to protect and promote freedom of expression in motion pictures and television programs in the country. The new MTCB would only classify films and TV programs and would not be allowed to censor, modify or ban them from being shown.

According to the news report, the lawmaker cited the case of some films and television programs, which were censored and rated “X” by the MTRCB due to its critical political or social content. (I am interested on what television programs have been censored and rated “X” by the MTRCB.)

This bill seems to have merit in terms of films being censored and banned even if it’s really good. But take the case of television, do you think this bill would have any effect on the TV shows which are being produced nowadays?

I don’t think so.

wont make any difference if the people running the office are the same stupid censors blurring cleavages, while allowing gyrating almost naked dancers on noon time shows. and what’s with them bleeping gun shots WTF! its stupid! and they don’t seem to mind it on the news.
